This series of images was taken in June 2004 at the Australian War Memorial, Canberra ACT.
This Memorial documents Australian military history since colonial times.
According to the AWM website, this particular vehicle was manufactured at the Coventry Ordnance Works, Glasgow and has been in the Memorial’s collection since 1921. Prior to that, it entered Australia in June 1918 direct from the factory and was used to support fund raising efforts around the country. Its condition is therefore pretty close to “factory new”! “Grit” toured Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane and had an Australian crew.
