Panzerkampfwagen VI SdKfz 181 Ausf. E Tiger I, Schwere Panzer Abteilung 503

Unit History
Schwere Panzer Abteilung 503 was sent to Russia in January 1943. It fought in southern Russia, received new Tigers in Spring 1943, and fought in the Battle of Kursk and later with Panzer Regiment Bäke near Cherkassy. Withdrawn in April 1944 and refitted. Sent to Normandy with Tiger Is and Tiger IIs. Destroyed in Normandy and the German retreat. Re-equipped with Tiger IIs and sent to Hungary. Renamed s.Pz.Abt. Feldherrnhalle in December 1944. Sd Kfz 232 6 Rad Armoured Car
Kit build and detail enhancement by Jason Ricketts.
This is the 1:35 Italeri kit with lots of fine detail enhancement.
Jason experienced a few fit problems necessitating replacement / enhancement of weld beads. He also added rivet & bolt detail around the turret and other areas. These dark single colour finishes are never easy, and some variation in tone (more evident “in the flesh” than in the photos) has been achieved using basic techniques. Continue reading
7.5cm PaK 40 auf Schutzenpanzerwagen Sd. Kfz. 251/22
Kit build with scratchbuilt modifications by Peter Bleasdale
The base kit was from Dragon.
Improvements / modifications to the kit are as follows:
- Added Tamiya Pz. Kfw. IV gun cleaning rods.
- Replaced one piece of the “C” section gun mount with a length of brass profile.
- Blanked off the radio operators visor with sheet plastic.
- Removed the incorrect radiator filler cap at the front bonnet.
- Replaced the two front lifting lugs with ones fashioned from an aluminium soft drink can. Continue reading
